To the Highest

Year 10 Residential Retreat (3/5 Days)

The ‘To the Highest’ programme will encourage young people to take a step back and identify what they are in pursuit of. It will allow young people to explore the greater vision and plan that God has for our lives outside of our own earthly goals.

Theological Underpinning

Divine Providence // God’s Plan
God guides everything along paths that only he knows, leading it to its perfection. At no point in time does something that he has created fall out of his hands. – YOUCAT 49
The universe was created ‘in a state of journeying’ towards and ultimate perfection yet to be attained, to which God has destined it. – CCC 302
Call to Holiness
All this is important. Yet with this Exhortation I would like to insist primarily on the call to holiness that the Lord addresses to each of us, the call that he also addresses, personally, to you: “Be holy, for I am holy” (Lev 11:44; cf. 1 Pet 1:16). The Second Vatican Council stated this clearly: “Strengthened by so many and such great means of salvation, all the faithful, whatever their condition or state, are called by the Lord – each in his or her own way – to that perfect holiness by which the Father himself is perfect”. – GE 10

Pursuit of God//Desire for God
The desire for God is written in the human heart, because man is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw man to himself. Only in God will he find the truth and happiness he never stops searching for. – CCC 27

Discernment
“In the depths of our being, not only can we listen to the needs of the moment, to material needs but we can also hear the voice of the creator himself and thus discern what is good and what is bad” (YOUCAT, 291)
