DEFINED
Year 7/8 Residential Retreat (3/5 days)
The ‘Defined’ programme will encourage young people to identify where they belong and recognise that they belong to God, in the Church and to each other, defining our identities in how Christ sees us rather than society.
Theological underpinning:
The Dignity of the Human Person
“The dignity of the human person is rooted in his creation in the image and likeness of God; it is fulfilled in his vocation to divine beatitude… It is in Christ, the ‘image of the invisible God’ that man has been created in the ’image and likeness’ of the creator. It is in Christ, Redeemer and Saviour, that the divine image, disfigured in man by the first sin, has been restored to its original beauty and ennobled by the grace of God.” (CCC,1700-1702)
“The Church sees in men and women, in every person, the living image of God himself. This image finds, and must always find anew, an ever deeper and fuller unfolding of itself in the mystery of Christ, the Perfect Image of God, the One who reveals God to man and man to himself… Christ, the Son of God, “by his incarnation has united himself in some fashion with every person” (CSDC, 105)
