My Year on The Briars Mission Team – Jakob
Being able to be a part of The Briars team was one of the best decisions I have made. I have grown in my spiritual and personal life. I have gained loads of life skills such as First Aid, safeguarding and public speaking. Because of these my confidence and people skills have grown exponentially.
Some of my highlights of being on the team are attending Adoremus at Oscott, having the privilege of going to Rome and Asissi, Light Night at St Barnabas Cathedral, open retreats, and spending my evenings with the team. Being on a team does come with its own set of challenges such as solving problems in stressful situations, resolving issues with your friends on team, adapting your communication skills to different age groups and learning how to do your laundry. If anyone is thinking about joining the team, my piece of advice is to be your wonderful unique self and to enjoy everything a year at The Briars has to offer.
