When you work and live as a part of the community at The Briars, accommodation, bills and utilities and food while resident with young people are all provided for you. To support with any expenses you incur while working with us, a stipend is provided on a monthly basis. This works out to roughly £55 per week.

During your first few weeks at The Briars you will be introduced to your supervisor. This person will be available throughout the year to support you with pastoral or professional discussions.
Can anyone volunteer at The Briars?
As we are a Catholic Retreat Centre, our volunteers must be willing to live in a Catholic community and be a committed Christian willing to share and grow in faith alongside the young people.
How old do I need to be?
our volunteer mission team are between 18-25. We have young adults straight from sixth form all the way to those leaving higher education!
Do I get time off as a volunteer?
As a member of the mission team you receive time off during half terms & term breaks as well as two days off in any seven day period, this usually looks like not working on the weekends but can look different depending on the calendar. We always prioritise the need for rest in our community and these days off are a crucial part of supporting your wellbeing.
Is a volunteer placement at The Briars a one year commitment?
Typically our volunteers do one year on our mission team however there is always the opportunity to apply to stay on after your year. We also offer a January start to those who may have decided to join us after our year of ministry begins.
