NDCYS has a wonderful group of volunteers called Friends of The Briars that raise much needed funds for The Briars Centre and for the work of the youth service across the diocese of Nottingham. Their support is invaluable and the group are able to support a number of projects that wouldn’t be possible without their financial support.
As a small charity, we are always looking for ways to conserve much needed resources in order to, not only, achieve the best possible outcomes for the young people that visit us but also to expand our services to all corners of the diocese, and beyond.
The Friends of The Briars are always looking for new volunteers to support their work and have recently launched an ambassador’s programme where support can be offered in three specific ways:
Prayerful Support

Prayer is such a powerful tool.
‘Do what you can, and pray for what you cannot, and so God will grant you the ability to do it.’ St Augustine
We ask that if you are able, please to pray for our work with the young people in our diocese that they might know God and benefit from the fruits that the He has to offer them.
If you would like to register as a prayer sponsor so that we can send you specific prayer requests, please follow the button below.
Fundraising

As a charity, we rely on funds donated together with income from our commercial properties and private hire to keep the cost of retreats as low as possible for the young people that attend. We also use donated funds for specific projects such as a new kitchen for the volunteer team, specialist training and an outdoor activities. Could you be a Briars Ambassador for your school or parish and fundraise on our behalf?
Back in the 1980’s volunteers set up the Friends of The Briars 50/50 club lottery.
Patrons donate £5 per month and get entered into a draw to win 50% of the donated income each month.
Can’t commit to a monthly donation but still would like to make a one off monetary donation?
Thank you for your support – please leave your details so that we can pray for you.
Practical Support

With a retreat centre, glamping pods and self-catering bungalows, there is always something to repair, paint or mow at The Briars! Whilst our onsite maintenance team do a wonderful job, there is always a list longer than the time that they have available.
If God has blessed you with practical skills such as DIY, decorating or if you are a keen gardener and would like to offer some of your time, we would love to hear from you.
