On Friday 11th June, over 180 keen golfers gathered at Chevin Golf Club, Duffield to compete in the 25th Briars Am-Am.
'LIVE IT' are a series of events taking place all across the Nottingham Diocese. They are a chance for young people in different areas to meet each other to share and celebrate their faith. This is the story so far....
Held again this year at the Moorways Centre in Derby, we saw our biggest ever turn out! This year saw around a thousand year 6s from all over the diocese gathered together to reflect on taking the big step up to secondary school.

October the 9-12th saw the biggest ever reunion of past and present Briars team members. In part of a series of events to mark the 40th Anniversary of The Briars over 150 people dropped in at some point to make this weekend a truly memorable celebration.
As part of the visit of St Therese’s relics to our cathedral in Nottingham, the Youth Service led an All Night Vigil. Starting at 11.00 on Monday 5th October and finishing the next morning with Mass at 6.30, it was split into three parts, each focussing on a different aspect of St Therese’s spirituality.
Hi all!
I’m Steph, I’m 18 years old, and I come from Nottingham! I live with my Mum and Dad and a very cute rabbit called Flopsey. I also have an older brother (Sam) who lives away from home in Liverpool. I’ve just left the Becket Sixth Form where I studied A levels in History, English literature and Music.
I adore music, both playing and listening to it! I play the flute and I hope to learn a little bit of guitar whilst I am here too. To listen to, I like any sort of music really, but I do love a bit of cheesy pop! My favourite artists include Jason Mraz, Michael Bublé, Daniel Merriweather and The Noisettes. My favourite TV programme is Hollyoakes and anything that makes me laugh! As for films, I love watching a good romantic comedy, my favourite probably being Love Actually. Also, quite a fan of Disney films, old and new ones, but my favourite one would definitely be Cinderella!

St George’s and Sacred Heart Year 6
Well this has seemed like one of the busiest weeks so far, you guys did sooo much!! I had so much fun too, and went HORSERIDING which was just amazing! I big thank you to St George’s for making it soo much fun and of course a big thank you to Lucy the horse for carrying me round for nearly two hours!
And I also very much enjoyed going to the heights of Abraham on Thursday, there were a lot of giggles and I loved the endless games of Boom chicka boom!
A big shout out to my small group, you were so hard working and I loved spending time with you!

St Paul’s Leicester Yr 7
Well what a jampacked couple of days these were! We seemed to cram so much into these days, and I enjoyed it so much! A big shout out to my small group…thanks for having so much energy and for being so willing to get involved with everything! I especially enjoyed making our elephant on the first night, that really was one amazing elephant! The story behind it too…well it was very dramatic!!

This has been a great couple of days because you were all so full of energy! Everything we did you got so involved in, and I especially enjoyed the walk because you were so easy to talk to and had such a laugh with. A special thanks to my small group, you were so hard working and came up with some awesome ideas, especially when it came to the Daniel session.
A big thank you as well for getting to know each other and mix so well as schools, it made it so easy!

This really has been an amazing week! Right from the word go you all got so involved and just had a laugh and we are all so grateful for that! A big shout out to my small group…you were awesome and did everything so well and I especially enjoyed having a chat on the Tuesday night with all our sweets and chocolate. I also really enjoyed making both of the adverts and I really hope that you take it back to school with you and show everyone all your amazing work!
I especially enjoyed the walk on Thursday because there was so little moaning and you were all so good to chat to! The mass that followed was also a high point as all the prayers and dramas were dead good! Well done for making the week so fantastic!

This has been a great weekend, and I only wish you could have stayed for longer! I’ve loved all the artwork we’ve done, and my groups poster was awesome! I loved how well you all got stuck in and involved, and I really enjoyed preparing for mass with my group, it was just loads of fun. I hope you all enjoyed the stay, I know I did and I wish you all the best of luck for your confirmation.

A really big thank you to all of you for what was a great weekend. My small group, ‘Nigel’s Angels’ were sooooo good to work with and amazingly easy to talk to. Right from the word go all three groups mixed together so well and there was no divide which made my job very easy indeed!
Discussing the questions with you guys was very interesting and then painting the tealight holders afterwards was a lot of fun and they looked really beautiful so well done to you J I also thought all the posters you made on Sunday were simply amazing!! They are going to look so good when they are put up in all your various parishes.
So thank you so much to all of you for mixing together, I’ve really enjoyed this weekend, and good luck with your confirmations, I hope it all goes well for you.

St Alban’s and St Stephen’s.
Well, what a fantastic week! I have genuinely enjoyed it sooooo much, and this was totally down to all you guys who came up! Not only were you very friendly and easy to chat to, but you were amazingly fun to be around too. Every single one of you got involved in the week, and it made for a really special week for everyone!
A big thanks to my small group the Stephtronics for getting involved so willingly into every single thing that we did. You were so easy to work with coz you just had sooooo many ideas. You did really well at both of the quizzes and did me proud J The roleplay that we did for mass I thought was pretty good, and you all acted fantastically in it.
One of the highlights of the week for me was going to the heights of Abraham. We had such a laugh and singing ‘baby’ in the cable car on the way up was very funny, and stopped us all from getting scared! I of course also really enjoyed the playgrounds, nearly more than you guys I think! I also really enjoyed the walk on the Thursday with St Stephen’s, the weather was beautiful and so were you! Thanks for all the great chats we had.

You were such a small group, all 13 of you, and I loved every second of it, because you were still so willing to get involved. The Nottingham day group as well, thanks for just getting stuck in.
