We are now taking applications for young people 16 – 18 (years 11 – 13) who are not in a Catholic school but want to go on our Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes. This is a great opportunity to celebrate our faith and serve members of our diocesan family on pilgrimage.

October the 9-12th saw the biggest ever reunion of past and present Briars team members. In part of a series of events to mark the 40th Anniversary of The Briars over 150 people dropped in at some point to make this weekend a truly memorable celebration.
As part of the visit of St Therese’s relics to our cathedral in Nottingham, the Youth Service led an All Night Vigil. Starting at 11.00 on Monday 5th October and finishing the next morning with Mass at 6.30, it was split into three parts, each focussing on a different aspect of St Therese’s spirituality.
Hey, My name is Matt and I’m from Chesterfield.
I’ll be 19 in October. I went to St Marys RC High School in chesterfield along with Sinoia and Don. I studied Business, History, Theology and Ethics. I have an older sister who lives in Manchester and two parents.
I love music, my favourite artists at the moment range from Jack Johnson and James Morrison to Beyoncé and Chris Brown. I love all sorts of music, especially cheesy music. I play guitar, I started to learn as a child but never really took it seriously but then started to play again when I went to sixth form, so I’m still learning.
I also see my self as a film fanatic, I have a huge DVD collection. I am particularly obsessed with Lord of the rings and Harry Potter. My favourite film is either Fly Away Home or Transformers (random I know,) plus I’m always up for a bit Disney, I loved the animation of Robin Hood it was my childhood movie along with the Lion King.
I’m completely obsessed with Tennis, Roger Federer is my all time hero and I really want to go Wimbledon again. The two weeks when Wimbledon is on TV are my favourite two weeks of the year. For about a month afterwards I will get withdrawal symptoms.
I hope I haven’t bored you too much.
Looking forward to see you all on a retreat.
Trinity Year 9
This was a great weekend and I really enjoyed getting to know you all. It would have been cool if you had stayed longer because it was clear to see you were getting a lot out of it. Mass was amazing and all the role plays and prayers were great and afterwards the disco was a lot of fun.

Wow, this was an awesome week, I could tell you all got something out of it and I really hope you all enjoyed your first week retreat. A big shout out to my small group, you were amazing ‘the pigs in blankets with Yorkshire puddings’, maybe one of the strangest names I’ve had. You were a great group and I was impressed with just how enthusiastic, chatty and willing you were to through your self into everything.
One of the highlights had to be bowling and was definitely impressed with a lot of the bowling skills around. Unfortunately I came second to last. The variety show was just amazing and the disco was sooooo much fun because it was greta to see you all dancing and just enjoying yourselves.

We crammed so much into such a short space of time. From the word go you made the most out of the experience. The minute movies were hilarious and a big shout out to my group bacause our twilight sketch was amazing. The whole weekend was brilliant and I really enjoyed getting to know all of you.

This was an absolutely amazing week, I really enjoyed getting to know all of you. From the word go you all got stuck into everything and made the most out of the week. I really enjoyed the boy v girl quiz and the discussion afterwards, I could tell you all got a lot out of it.
