Serendipity Youth Ministry Resource Book – Lyman Coleman. Excellent sessions, games, activities …… If you can get hold of this, guard it with your life as it is going out of print in the U.K.

Big ideas for small groups – Patrick Angier & Nick Aiken. Marshall Pickering Ltd. ISBN – 0-551-02168-3. Good old favourite. A classic.

Videos that teach – Doug Fields & Eddie James. Youth Specialities Publishing. ISBN – 0-310-23115-9. Series of books with ideas of how to use films in sessions.

Hands-on ideas for ministry with young teens – Maryann Hakowski and Joyce Schoettler Jennings. Published by St Mary’s Press, Winona, Minnesota. ISBN 0-88489-573-4. A great selection of activities, discussions, reflections.

Experiential Youth Ministry Handbook – John Losey. Youth Specialities Books. ISBN – 0-310-25532-5. Good stuff with some activities.

Creative Resources for Youth Ministry – Wayne Rice, Mike Yaconelli, Yvette Nelson. Published by St Mary’s Press, Christian Brothers Publications. ISBN 0-88489-264-6. Good selection of games and activities.

The New Youth Games Book – Alan Dearling and Howard Armstrong. Russell House publishing Ltd. ISBN 1-898924-00-7. Not very new anymore but packed full of games.

Creative outdoor work with young people – Alan Smith. Russell House Publishing Ltd. ISBN – 1-898924-25-2. Aimed at those who are into all the outdoor bound, shelter building Ray Mears kind of activities.

Multi-sensory prayer – Sue Wallace. Published by Scripture Union. ISBN 1-8599946-2. Very good ideas on hands-on, interactive prayer.

Prayers before an awesome God – David Haas. St Mary’s Press, Christian Brothers Publications, Winona, Minnesota. ISBN 0-88489-600-5. Really good re-working of the psalms for young people.

Praying each day of the year – Nicholas Hutchinson FSC. Matthew James Publishing. ISBN 1-898366-30-6. Set of three volumes giving prayers and reflections for each day of the year. Really good for those five minutes of prayer at the end of a meeting.

Celebrations for young people – Katie Thompson. Kevin Mayhew Publications. ISBN 1-84003-723-7. Fully worked out services with readings, prayers, activity ideas and music.

You’re only young once – Peter Graystone, Paul Sharpe, Pippa Turner. Scripture Union Publishing. ISBN 0-86201-810-2. Series of four books giving group bible study resources for the over 13s.

The Lion Prayer Collection – compiled by Mary Batchelor. Lion publishing. ISBN – 0-7459-5058-2. Utterly brilliant and broken up into themed sections.

Catholic Youth Bible – inspired by the Holy Spirit! Saint Mary’s Press. ISBN – 0-88489-489-4. Really good version with loads of commentary in it.

The Art of Youth Work – Kerry Young. Russell House Publishing, Dorset. This is a superb little book written from a secular standpoint but brilliant at helping us think about the purpose of youth ministry.
