What a week! It’s been less than 7days since we returned from Lourdes from the annual Diocesan Pilgrimage and while the tans may be fading the memories are not! It was an incredible week with some incredible people and despite flood warnings, 24 hour coach journeys and alot of hard work – a great time was had by all.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this pilgrimage so special and to everyone who put in so much hard work to make everything happen.

A big thank you too to the young people we accompanied on pilgrimage. They were truly exemplary and made this week truly special. They worked really hard for their VIP’s and still found time to think of the most imaginative uses for a neckerchief and to find some amazing merchandise in the shops and boutiques of Lourdes.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here is 246,000 words about Lourdes. Enjoy

Today was our last day of normal Reach4 work and it was amazing to get to spend it with people we have worked with so many times before and people who always impress us with how incredible they are.

Well done for all the hard work you put into preparing your leavers’ Mass, it was a beautiful way for you all to end your year together.

As always you all brought so much energy to the preparation and none of it would have been possible without all of your amazing ideas and enthusiasm!

Well done for everything you’ve achieved and good luck at your new schools…you’ll all be amazing!

A huge hello to everyone we worked with today! We can’t believe how quickly you picked up the ‘golden rules’…you could have been doing the job for us! Hopefully the prayer stations will help you with ideas for stuff you can do in your school.

It was great to have the Year 6′s to help by sharing their knowledge and experience.

Everything you prepared for the final liturgy was amazing. We know you’re going to be fantastic as a chaplaincy group.

Good luck with all the amazing work you have ahead of you!

Another AMAZING week spent with St. Mary’s… it’s hard to believe that was our last job with you as a school.

On Monday we were joined by Bishop Malcolm. The Year 10 chaplaincy team did an incredible job of both creating and leading your schools final liturgy, even going as far as putting together a fish shaped seating plan!

As a school on Tuesday we spent the day creating an awesome mosaic for the chapel at St. Andrew’s. The amount of effort and feeling you all put in to your own personal tiles really showed – I don’t think anybody expected it to look quite as good as it did!

Mass on Wednesday evening was so moving – well done to everyone who helped to prepare it… so many people commented on what a beautiful mass it was and that’s all down to your hard-work. A very special mention to the Year 10 Communion reflection group and to the students of St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s primary schools too.

As a school St. Mary’s is like no other – it has been an absolute priviledge working with each and every one of you. All the best for the future wherever it may lead… fingers crossed we see you in St. Andrew’s!

Thankyou to those of you who came this evening! We loved just getting to know you all and spending time thinking about how we show our faith through our lives.

The pizza was incredible…well done for getting through so much, there was loads!

Hope to see you all again sometime.

Reconciliation

The theme of tonight was reconciliation. We really enjoyed spending time with you guys, it was so relaxed. You all got involved so well and it was great being there to help you with your confirmation programme.

The artwork you created was amazing – we loved the finger painting, and although it got slightly messy it was great chance to talk to more of you and get to know you all.

Looking forward to seeing you all again at our next session with you.

Gifts of the Holy Spirit

There was so much to fit into this evening’s session and you all did so well to get through all 7 gifts in such a short space of time. Playing all the games was a lot of fun and the energy you all had made the night even better.

You were all so respectful during the closing prayer and it was nice to have a few minutes at the end to reflect on all that we had done.

We had three great days working with you guys in year 9 to learn more about the issues of Justice and Peace. After beginning with some difficult and sometimes deceiving games we were prepared with a better understanding of some of the issues of injustice in our world today and we were able to get to work on taking action and making a difference. Everyone took part in four different activities – hot seating where we talked about the issues that had been raised in the games, letter writing where we wrote to the prime minister about what we had learnt, photo promises where we made a promise to take action and then were photographed with this promise to provide an example to others. Finally through prayer we offered up what we’d learnt and done to God and asked for his help.

Our days ended with a final liturgy or mass which you guys prepared and led with some fantastic prayers, dramas and songs. Thanks for a great few days and keep an eye out for the replies to your letters from Downing Street!

Well done to everyone who we worked with today, there was a lot to fit in and it was very busy but you all made the day a lot of fun and managed to do eveything.

The karaoke game we played in the morning was so much fun – we expect to see some of you on X factor next year! And the game of football where you had to blow through straws helped us to think about the theme of our day ‘following Jesus’.

The final liturgy was amazing, all of the parts you has prepared reflected how much effort you’d put into the whole day, and the effort you brought to everything was very impressive.

Thanks for a great day!

After quite a long journey for all of us to Walsingham it was great to chill out with everyone with some chips and the England match. We used the analogy of a football game and squad to help us think about our theme of vocation.

Well done to the group of you who led morning prayer on Saturday, you were very brave and did an amazing job. Then, after playing our very own game of deal or no deal it was time to split into smaller groups to discuss further our theme for the weekend. Our afternoon at the beach was so much fun and we did not let the cold weather get in the way of us having a good time, we hit the arcades.

Sunday was amazing, all of the parts of the opening liturgy that you helped to prepare and lead were fantastic and showed how hard you had worked.

We had such a good time getting to spend a whole weekend with such amazing people, you were all alot of fun to be around.
