Becoming a Volunteer

Every year we offer the opportunity for up to 8 young adults ages 18-25 to spend a year living and working as part of the community at The Briars.

It is an opportunity to spend a year (usually after completing formal education) working in youth ministry with over 5000 young people from all over the country.

You will live as part of a team who are responsible for running the Centre and also delivering programmes based on social, spiritual and emotional development to young people aged 11-18.

It is a life changing experience.

Have a look at the video below to see why this years volunteers do what they do!

You can also have a look here to find out a bit more our home.

So how do you become a member of Team?

First thing we would recommend is coming to visit to see the place for yourself. We celebrate Mass every Saturday evenings at 7:30pm when we are working with a retreat group and all are welcome to participate in Mass with the resident group. We also offer open retreats at Advent and Easter for young people who are in Year 11 and above and provide a brilliant opportunity to experience a retreat at The Briars.

The next step is to contact us and tell us why you want to be part of The Team. This usually happens November/December the year before you want to start. You can contact Ciara (Programme Leader responsible for the residential Team) by email.

You will then be sent an application form and following that, allocated an interview week/weekend where you will get to come and live and work as part of The Team. It just as much about you interviewing us as it is about us interviewing you!

During that time you’ll get to experience what its’ really like and you’ll also meet a member of our management committee for a formal interview.

We choose our next team around Palm Sunday every year and you will be notified soon after.

If you want to know more then please get in touch.
