On Friday 11th June, over 180 keen golfers gathered at Chevin Golf Club, Duffield to compete in the 25th Briars Am-Am.
'LIVE IT' are a series of events taking place all across the Nottingham Diocese. They are a chance for young people in different areas to meet each other to share and celebrate their faith. This is the story so far....
Held again this year at the Moorways Centre in Derby, we saw our biggest ever turn out! This year saw around a thousand year 6s from all over the diocese gathered together to reflect on taking the big step up to secondary school.

October the 9-12th saw the biggest ever reunion of past and present Briars team members. In part of a series of events to mark the 40th Anniversary of The Briars over 150 people dropped in at some point to make this weekend a truly memorable celebration.
As part of the visit of St Therese’s relics to our cathedral in Nottingham, the Youth Service led an All Night Vigil. Starting at 11.00 on Monday 5th October and finishing the next morning with Mass at 6.30, it was split into three parts, each focussing on a different aspect of St Therese’s spirituality.
It was so good to see some familiar faces and lots of new ones too! You just got stuck in all weekend, and really made it memorable for us!

This was an absolutely amazing week, I really enjoyed getting to know all of you. From the word go you all got stuck into everything and made the most out of the week. I really enjoyed the boy v girl quiz and the discussion afterwards, I could tell you all got a lot out of it.
A big shout out to my small group, you were awesome and I really enjoyed spending time in small group sessions because you were all hard working but up for a laugh at the same time.

This afternoon was so much fun! You all really got involved in the game show we did to think about how the story of Moses applies to us.
We were well impressed with your observation skills and your singing…especially the lovely solo!
It was great to get the chance to talk to you all during the discussion session.
The afternoon went so quickly and we did so much to say we only had a few hours with you all. Thank you to all the sixth formers who helped us…you all were great.

Hello to everyone we worked with today! You guys were amazing and we were so impressed by how you really put all of your effort into all of the music that we did. It was awesome how passionate you all seemed to do something about the music in your school and very interesting for us to see what it was that you wanted to change.
We loved practicing all the songs with you, you were like pros. Well done for standing in front of the rest of the school and helping to lead the singin practice in the afternoon!
The singing practice in the afternoon with everyone was a perfect way to round off a great day and we were so impressed with how you all sang and got so involved!

Well a big shout out to my group Oakabix, you were amazing, you came up with loads of brilliant ideas, and especially our old granny for our morning prayer role play it was hilarious. You really made the most out of the experience and just throw your self in right fom the beginning especially with the adverts on the first night, they were hilarious.

This was an awesome week, I had soo much fun. There’s was not one aspect of the week I didn’t enjoy, from the word go you all got stuck in and made the most out of the experience. I particularly enjoyed all the canvas’ they were amazing and each group made it there own. A big shout out to my group, all your ideas were great and you definitely made my job easy.

Well what an awesome week we spent together! It was well fun and I had so many laughs. I loved how you guys went for everything straight away which was shown by how awesome the ‘Equestrian of Sport’ was on the first night. Everyone knows our horse was the best, and the formation we pulled out for the last with the splits was amazing!
The men versus woman session was awesome, and the questions the lads were fielding to me, Don and Joe and the discussions we had was amazing. So big up on that! Big shout out to my small group, I absolutely loved spending time with you guys, we had so many laughs and the discussion we had in the sharing sheet was so good to see and hear!
The week was so good as you guys really made the most of it so thankyou!

I don’t even know where to begin describing how much fun I had this weekend! I can’t believe it was only 2 days aswell, I keep thinking you were here for like 2-3 weeks, you all got on so well within such a short time!
A BIG shout out to my group ‘Pingu’s friends’, you guys were just the funniest group I have EVER had! I honestly couldn’t stop laughing!
Our minute movie…BIG TIME! Romeo will always be a northerner to me. How can I forget our Gospel aswell, I haven’t cried from laughter for a long time and it was all you! Your planning and effort just made that mass brilliant.
How could I forget the disco aswell…amazing! I was loving it. Pretty sure I lost about 2 stone just dancing on stage, and I was able to learn some new dance moves from certain people.
Honestly I wish we had you all up for a longer retreat because I can honestly say I’ve never met a group of people more confident than you lot! Even now I wish I had your confidence!
I hope all of you choose to come back soon. Let us know how your all getting on with your exams and stuff.
