Last weekend (8-10th May) several adult youth leaders for all over the diocese gathered at The Briars for a weekend of training and resourcing in youth ministry. Coming from as far afield as Scunthorpe, Buxton, Leicester and other far-flung corners of the diocese, they took part in workshops on Confirmation Catechesis, Safeguarding, leading prayer with young people ……… Led by Father Joe, the input was given by The Briars and reach4 teams, Hannah, Tom and Kelly at the Youth Service, Paula Bailey from the Education Service and John Creedon, our Diocesan Safeguarding Coordinator. Comments from evaluations included ‘thought provoking’, ‘encouraging’, ‘great fun’ and ‘this was a really valuable weekend’. It is hoped to make it an annual event so look out for next year! See here some pictures of the participants deep in discussion!

On Thursday we went to St Peter’s, Leicester and looked at Discipleship and what it is to be a good disciple. We had a special guest in to talk to us Fr David Cain and he was our Yoda. You got to ask him questions about what it was like to be a priest and found out lots of stuff about him which was brilliant and you guys asked some really interesting questions!
We then got to watch and bit of Indiana and thought about what it was to be a good disciple and what a better way to do it then to play some games! Which went really well – can’t believe this is the second to last session with you guys!!
What an exciting, jam-packed 2 days!
