First of all, sorry it has taken so long to sort the photos out, it may have been because we took over 400 images of the retreat! Here are the best from each day, so enjoy the memories, and thanks for an awesome retreat!

On Friday evening we went to Christ the King, Alfreton parish and worked with the youth group. It was great because lots of new members arrived and you were all so welcoming with one another. From talking and getting to know each other – including each others meals which all of us then were really hungry! Then we thought about ARKs – Act of Random kindness! And we made two arks, which were really good and all things that could support each other and you all had some amazing ideas. Keep carrying on with your youth group!

17 young people from Derby parishes recently were awarded certificates marking their completion of Peer Ministry training. Delivered by Father Joe and Kara Foley from Christ the King parish Mackworth, this was designed to help them develop leadership skills. All of them already take the lead in various areas of parish life from youth groups, to liturgy and justice and peace groups. They were presented with their certificates during Sunday Mass in their parishes.

If you would like a similar course for young people in your parish, contact Fr Joe at fr.joe@ndcys.com or 01773 852044

Well after our easter break we started back by going to Trinity School, Nottingham, and what a packed dayh it was! We had all of the year 9s which was great fun we did bit of a family fortunes where the mc nuggets and mc muffins went head to head with each other! We also thought about the different types of prayer that we use or we can use. You went off thinking about what Jesus would be like and what kind of qulaties he would have. With the limited amount of resources that you had, you guys came back with some amazing Jesus’-all completely different, but with just as unique qualties as the other. From strong muscles to having the eyes or the head as the world so he can see everything with long arms. They were just great! Then you all doing different parts to the mass were really good and to top it off it was lovely sunny day and a great first day back for us!

After many months of work and consultation, the youth service has a new mission statement that encapsulates what our work at the Briars, with Reach4 and training is all about:

The Nottingham Diocesan Catholic Youth Service provides opportunities for young people to discover community, come to a friendship with Christ and a deeper awareness of themselves.”

Thanks to all who worked on this: the Trustees, management committee, staff and volunteers at the youth service and all the young people and adults who gave us their views and ideas.
