We were back amongst the now familiar faces of the St. Peter’s confirmation group. Today we are in the parish for the whole day thinking about the idea of disiciplship and what it means to follow, but as well as that we thought about how to begin a journey like confirmation we must start with a clear slate and God can offer that to us in reconciliation. We started by watching Mary Poppins, what better than to think about what is really required in some one to look after us, after that we thought about a job description that Jesus would need in 2009 and then decided to build him out of very varied resources. We displayed all these to each other then considered the idea of reconciliation by burning away all the things we want to get rid of (on peices of paper) and the used those ashes to create an amazing banner which we displayed to the parish at Saturday night mass along with our prayers and role plays and rocking it out with great singing from everyone around, we can’t beleive we’re half way through.
This was a really good fun week and we loved all the adventure!

Well Wednesday we went to St Patrick’s which was great as we had never been there before. We had a whole school assembly where we saw that you guys were great singers and also learnt that holding your arms up for to long – your arms really do hurt! Fr David Cain also came along and whilst we worked with all the year6s he worked with all the other year groups.
We started by thinking about the things that we want to pack on our journeys, whilst also thinking about the things that we might not want to take and some of the bad things that we do. We then made them into boats and floated them on our own little beach! We then painted an awesome Jesus-it looked great and we all got a bit messy!
We then finished by preparing for mass which year6s you guys did a stunning job along with the rest of the school all taking a part too. The prayers, banners and dramas were all brilliant! Well done guys!
We were out again today straight into sunny Nottingham. We were at Our Lady’s and St. Edward’s thinking again about the theme of lent and the journey that we are taking through it. We started with a very lively whole school liturgy which got us singing and dancing and really thinking about what we were doing for the day. We then went off with year 6 and thought about where we start and so had our own personal cinema and bag packing session.
After a good break, we split into small groups and did some finger painting, promise making and boat building, messy, fiddly but fun. After a great lunch we then started preparing the liturgy for the whole school, with one group taking the prayers, another a dance and another a role play. We ended by showing all our work and dancing and singing again. A great day, time to head back home.
Luckily for reach4 we are just down the road today in Matlock, at St. joseph’s, we we spending the whole day with the year 6 class thinking about the theme of lent, a perfect theme for the time of year we are in. We started off with a great monday ,orming liturgy and then settled straight down into thinking about what our journey though this time of year is all about. Then we broke down into small groups and did some painting prayers, packed our bags and made promises. We got messy but really started to think aobut our theme. The second half of the day after a full lunch we made some boats to float on our lake and then ended with a beautiful final liturgy displaying all our work over the past day.
