Well the photos are finally here! We had about 500 to sort through, and these are just a few of them that will hopefully give you a picture of what happened. (Santa’s Grotto pics will be uploaded soon!) A big hello and thank you to everyone who made it a truly memorable and enjoyable end to our term and to 2008! It was a brilliant way to prepare for Christmas, and it was fantastic to see some new faces on our open retreats, including some from our recent missions to St Thomas More and St Mary’s Grimsby. Also don’t forget to check out the guest book page and leave your comment!

As promised there is a DVD of a few bits from the weekend, available free upon the reciept of an SAE (big enough and suitable for a DVD) to:

Today Reach4 were back in Buxton after a very long time, one of the first jobs of the year and now the last one of 2008. We focused on our thoughts on Advent and how it is apart the preparation that makes the celebration of Christmas amazing. We made boxes to hang on our trees, then we made some very decorative advent calendars for the parish with promises inside for th eparish to attempt to help us prepare for the coming of Jesus. We ended our celebration with an amazing mass to top off and amazing day and hopefully it won’t be the last time Reach4 se buxton.

Another week closer to advent and another Journey out to focus on the idea, but also linking in with our calling with God. Today the Reach4 team brought 3 more team members out to brave the colds of Boston and we were also joined by Fr. David Cain who helped us think about the vocation part of our day. We worked with the year 6 from St. Mary’s and the Year 7’s of St. Bede’s we made group contracts, decorated canvases to make the look beautiful and prepared for our final gathering as a whole school community in mass. The singing was beautiful and the altar really look amazing after the offertry. A long and definitley worth while day.

Thursday we went to St Mary’s Hyson Green which was so much fun!! Fr David Cain was also with us along with Sister Bernadette. We started off with an assembly and lots of talking about Reindeers which was lots of fun along with a singing practice which you guys rocked at especially with all the clapping!! Then we worked with the year6s while all the other classes prepared something. The boxes we made looked great along with you all making a promise! Then we finished with mass with the whole school, the year6s did all the prayers and a drama for the gospel which was really good and all the other years bought up the things that they had made. Overall it was a great day and i think that it was a great way to prepare for advent! Hope you all enjoyed it!!
