Getting up this morning in windy Buxton we hoped for another excellent day and we weren’t dissapointed. We started our day by working with the year 7’s and 8’s. Apparently news had got back about the fun we’d had yesterday and the energy in the room each was just electric. We had a fun day of games, art work and singing which really kept the school spirit going. We ate another fantastic lunch and sat down with some of the very talented musicians who have volunteerd to spice up our celebration of mass on Thursday and Friday. We’re not even half way through the week yet so keep checking back here for more, don’t forget to sign our guest book as well.

Wow what a start! It’s been a really busy day and we managed to kick off the mission with years 9,10 and 11. They were all brilliant and really enthusiastic and helped us really get into the spirit of the school, it’s been such a welcome! The food at lunch time was excellent and we’ve even managed to see a bit of Buxton before heading back to our host houses! We’re working with the year 7 and 8’s tommorow and we can’t wait! Check back tommorow to find out more about the mission

Tonight we took a trip out to the St. Mary’s and St. Augustine’s parish youth group in Stamford. We expected to have 20 people turnout and we were constantly impressed as more and more walked into the hall and we had double the amount we thought. It was brilliant to see some familiar faces and also get to know those who we didn’t know.  We started with a big game of squirt and then got down to getting to know what everyone had been doing over the summer with some quick talking and moving chairs. After that we had time for a break before we watched a bit of a film and made promises about staying in touch with our friends and church. A lot to fit in but totally worth it.

Tonight we went to St. Mary’s and St. Augustine’s, Stamford to do some work with their youth group in preparation for a day in November. We took a beautiful car ride through some lovely countryside and then arrived in picturesque Stamford. We got straight down to playing some silly games but what we didnt realise is how many people would actually be coming it was double what we expected which was excellent. We carried on to make promises about keeping in touch and made them look amazing to be stuck round the church. It was good to see faces we recognised, and some new faces as well, a really good night.

Hey hey to ‘The 8 Jumping Jelly Beans!’
The treasure hunt on the first night was really good, I was impressed with how well you remembered where things were after just being here for an hour or two!
I really enjoyed our week together, equestrian of sport was really good fun, our groups general knowledge was seriously tip top!!
The trip to the tramway was brill, and I really enjoyed working with you all on the day we did the Focus activities with Mike Pilling.
The affirmations we did on Friday were fab, which showed how well you got on throughout the week.
